Rick and Morty pass through an asteroid belt containing an asteroid in the image of Rick and an asteroid in the image of Morty.
Rick and Morty return from an adventure where Rick has stolen and returned with a rogue universe's science, doubling his stockpile of science. Morty decides to return to high school, rather than go on Rick's new 12-issue adventure, causing a rift between grandfather and grandson. A dimension of math-worshipping Goldenfolds seeks to raid "our" dimension (C-137) to capture "our" Rick, representing the chaos of mad-science to the math-lovers. Bystanders of the battle between Rick and the invading Unclefold, awkward Morty and disaffected but sweet Noelle, begin a cross-dimensional friendship.

META MOMENT 3: With the quote above, Rick also tips the writer's and publisher's apparent plan for this to be a 12-issue maxi series - despite giving readers the initial impression that it would be another ongoing series akin to Rick and Morty (Oni Press, 2015 Series), which ran for 60 issues.
